Electronically Sign a PDF Form

Forget the printer. Sign your PDF forms quickly and electronically.

 

Need to sign and submit a PDF form to Entrust? One of the easiest ways to do this is by using DocuSign, a trusted e-signature platform. This tutorial walks you through how to create a free account, sign a PDF, and download the completed form with the required Certificate of Completion.

Important: When submitting e-signed forms to Entrust, you must also include the Certificate of Completion (also called an audit trail). Without it, your signature will not be accepted.

 

Step 1: Create a Free DocuSign Account

  1. Go to www.docusign.com.
  2. Enter your email address and click "Get Started."
  3. Fill out your name, phone number, and create a password.
  4. Check your email inbox (and spam/junk folder) for a confirmation code.
  5. Return to DocuSign and enter the code.
  6. You’ll also receive a text message with a second code. Enter that to verify your phone.
  7. Set your password and skip any team invite prompts until you reach the Dashboard.

 

 

 

 

Step 2: Upload and Prepare the PDF Form

  1. From the dashboard, scroll down and click "Start."
  2. Click "Upload" and choose your file (e.g., the PDF form you’d like to submit to Entrust).
  3. Select “I’m the only signer” and click “Sign.”
  4. You’ll see your PDF open in an editor with tools on the left-hand side.

 

Step 3: Fill Out and Sign the Form

  1. Complete the PDF with necessary text, dates, checkboxes, etc.
  2. Scroll to the signature section and drag in the “Signature” field.
  3. Confirm your name and initials are correct.
  4. Select a signature style or type your name. Click "Adopt and Sign."
  5. Don’t forget to drag in the Date field and enter the date.
  6. Click “Finish” when done.

 

Step 4: Download Your Signed Form & Certificate of Completion

  1. Once you’ve finished signing, DocuSign will give you the option to download your completed document.
  2. Click "Agreements" in the top menu to locate your signed document, then click "Download."
  3. On the download screen, make sure all three boxes are checked:
    1. Signed Document (PDF)
    2. Certificate of Completion
    3. Supplementary Documents (if any)
  4. Click "Download."

 

Your files will now be saved in your computer's Downloads folder as a ZIP file or multiple PDFs.

 

Step 5: Submit to Entrust

Send the following to Entrust:

  • The signed PDF form
  • The Certificate of Completion

You can submit these to Entrust using the Secure File Upload feature in the Entrust Client Portal or email it to the email address on the form.
